Why can't I find a book on Amazon?
Why can't I find a specific book on Amazon?
In May of 2023, Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) updated their content guidelines. Before an author can choose their book's categories, they have to select whether or not their book is for "adults only." At this time (July 2023), the only specific example Amazon provides of what might make a book "adult" is if it contains explicit sexual content.

In an effort to comply with this policy, as my books do contain on-page sexual content, I selected "yes" when prompted with the adult content question. The effect of this (as stated in Amazon's policy around adult content) is that my books no longer show up in general Amazon product searches.

However, there are still ways you can find my books on Amazon, and in Kindle Unlimited. These include:
-
Searching for my books in the free Kindle App.
-
On Amazon's website, search directly from the Kindle Store
-
On Desktop, this setting is available in a drop-down menu right next to the search bar
-
On Mobile, there should be a tag that appears after you search that reads "Kindle Store" and will take you to Kindle results, or you can navigate to "books" in the upper left-hand menu.
-

As an author, I want nothing more than for my books to be simple and easy to find for my readers. At the same time, I do not want to do anything to jeopardize my ability to sell in Amazon's marketplace.
